Calipers turned dust grey - Anyone else?

I have the regional rep going to take a look. The slide pins are also rusty - i have only 3100 miles on the car.

Anyone else have these issues?

did you clean them with one of those spray and wash cleaners for wheels? because those things are bad for wheels and stuff since they are acid based.

by the look of the weights on the wheel, it looks like you used one of those products

Its the wheel cleaner...... I used that crap once and saw it changing , so I stopped using it and just use regular car wash when i clean the wheels.

These wheels are the easiest to clean out of all the cars I have had. I can literally reach in and wash the insides of the wheels I just use a dedicated lambskin mitt with zaino car wash. If you need to use a wheel cleaner make sure it is clear coat safe such as Griots green wheel cleaner.

I just messed mine up about one hour ago. I used simple green. 250 miles on the car and they now look like crap. I guess they will be going in for powder coating sooner than I thought.

I have 3400 miles on my car I DO NOT USE WHEEL CLEANER and I wash my car at least once a week.
I had the regional GM rep look at my car and he agreed that shouldnt happen. He took photos and is sending them to the engineers in MI.
I will let you all know what they say.

Rallyman, ditto.. I wash very often and never used any wheel cleaners, i have about 9,000 miles and mine look that way also. thought it was normal from the brake dust or something. thanks for checking this out and look forward to what they say.

Mine do as well... Its the heat of the calipers combined with the dust and the wheel cleaner. Its rare that calipers can stay shiny unless they have a smooth coat on the outside and even then....

I'm thinking it's a natural wear item. If I had to bet, I'd say GM will tell you something similar. The calipers never had a show finish in the first place. I think if you want that look you are going to have to $$$ for a powder finish.
