Vararam and Ice-olator installs (yes i searched)

I know I've seen in mentioned on here before when the Ice-olator first came out but I can't seem to find the post.

I seem to remember someone saying that when they installed both the Vararam and the Ice-olator at the same time, it had an adverse affect. Another posted did the same thing but installed the Ice-olator first and allowed the car to relearn after roughly 100 miles and then installed the vararam. They got the results that they were supposed to get.

Is the correct way Ice-olator -> relearn -> vararam -> increased perma grin?

I don't believe there is a correct order. I don't recall the thread you mentioned, and I thought I followed the Black Ice-olator release fairly closely. Anyway, if you are concerned about issues, then by all means do them one-at-a-time. Either order would be fine. I did my Vararam and PTB together, and then later did the ported IM and Black Ice-olator at the same time. No issues whatsoever.

EDIT: However, I will say that I read that the Vararam install seemed easier (or there was improved fitment) after the Ice-olator was installed.

I really can't see how it would matter.

I had my Vararam first, and added the black Ice later once it became available. No issues here.

It shouldn't matter, but yes the grin will be last to self/installed

Sounds good to me. Both are on the way. I'll do the fuse pull as well that I've read in a few other ice-olator threads.

I don't know about the "fuse pull" on a V6, but step #1 of most installations is to disconnect the negative battery cable. I believe it's a good practice since you will be unplugging electrical connectors. I believe it will sort of reset the ECM and shorten the re-learn process.

When I had mine, I installed the Vararam first and the isolator later but only because that's the order that I bought them. I would just disconnect the battery and install them both at the same time.

Btw, do you need an extra gasket for your isolator or did you end up buying the permatex goop? I could send you my extra one if you need it.

Just saying.

Great luck to you and let us know if you need any assistance.

Just thought I'd update.

Got everything installed last Friday. Took me and a friend about 3 hours, 30-45 minutes of that was dedicated to those damn back bolts because I refused to pay $20 for a single 13mm flex wrench.

I had to zip tie the hose with the baffle to something solid because I didn't like that it just hung there with no support. Hopefully I can figure out a more permanent solution.

As for the permagrin....oh my god. Once I hit 3000rpm, she roars to life. Pulls much harder in the mid range, all the way up to 6000ish. I also noticed a slight increase in mpg at higher speeds.
