1LE Brake Squeal

So im at about 4800KM (3000 miles) on my 1LE, everything has been great but almost since like day 5 ive noticed the brakes squeal on the car quite a bit in slow braking, has anyone else had this issue? Still havent taken the car in for service but was wondering if this may be common with the pad compound being used.

Have you tried rebedding the brakes?

My 2011 ss squealed whenever there was a hint of humidity in the air (all the time here) no noise out the 2013 yet

Downside of ceramic pads is that they have less stopping power.

There's one for the 2010's - not the 2013's unfortunately.

I believe that is when they added the Mickey Mouse Ears / Roller Skates.

I asked internally at GM about cutting these off and was told that the brakes WILL squeal without them in place.

To the OP.....You can try (in a safe environment) to take the car out and hit the brakes hard from a highway speed down to 10 miles per hours or so (basically a panic stop) and then get back up to speed and do it again. Then drive for a few miles to allow the brakes to cool. It may help reduce or remove the noise completely.

Did that around 800 km ago, made it a little better. I may just switch over to some EBC Yellows.

this started happening to me lately as well, at 3500 miles, 2013 1le...

i figured it was because i drive the car like an old grandpa... i just decided to implement late braking to get rid of it, because it doesn't happen when under moderate breaking force...

if there was a fix for this I'm all ears

My brakes squeal constantly but only while there isn't any pressure on them. I took it to the dealer, their service guy knocked .5 off my average MPG (wot at least four times), didn't do a damn thing. I'm going to get some new pads in a week or so. A long time ago I put EBC greens on my brother's E36 M3 with great results. I think I'll give that a shot. If my brakes squeal, I'd at least like them to be doing something while they do.

Anyone know what these are really called and whether or not they serve any other purpose? If it is just for brake squeal, how exactly do they work? Are they just dampers? Someone asked about them at a show and I was like "I dunno"

It's just for brake squeal. Technical term is caliper weights I believe - even though they attached to the pad.
