Why not a Camaro hybrid???

If they can put a 6 ltr. hybrid engine in the Tahoe, then Why not the Camaro? Seems to me this is what the Camaro Synergy Pkg. should have been.

I'm also going to search to see if GM offers a diesel so it could be run on biodiesel.

If I owned a custom shop like a Hennesey or Nickey, this is what I'd be working on. I think there's a big potential market for a Camaro hybrid in SoCal alone. Make it a convertible.

I can tell you right now the dealerships consider the Tahoe Hybrid a complete waste of money. No one wants to have one on their lot. It's pointless.

GM's brand new eAssist mild hybrid system actually adds quite a decent amount of torque and a little bit of horsepower to the ICE's output, all while increasing fuel economy substantially, plus it's fairly easy to integrate into existing products.

It really isn't a far-fetched idea. Will it ever happen? Who knows.

BTW, Tahoe Hybrid uses a V8. And yes, GM has diesels other than HD trucks. 2014 Cruze will have a diesel option.

Why ? If you can get a hybrid to go 170mph is that bad? Im missing something. We have the tech so use it. I would def get a hybrid if it were available. Its about the power, not the juice that goes in it.

I remember grilling the engineers at Milford about that system.
wrong target for hybrid. no one buys a hybrid to get 20 mpg. It's an outstanding system...just wrong application.

OP you must be one of those mid 20's that think the gov't is doing a great job. Would you pay $65,000 for a Camaro Hybrid? I thought so. No hybrid for the camaro. Can you imagine the cost to fix a hybrid if it broke. Not something Chevy or I would want to get into. The Hybrid Tahoe only gets 2 more miles per gallon not worth the extra cost.

Tahoe Hybrid is insanely expensive because it's an SUV (already pricey) with a full hybrid system (also pricey) plus a more or less fully loaded interior (pricey).

A mild hybrid system, like eAssist, tacks on maybe $2-3k. LaCrosse went from $27k to $30k and from 30 MPG highway to 37 MPG highway, plus adding 15 HP and 79 lb/ft of torque. Malibu will do 38 MPG highway.

ummmmm this is rediculous. if you want a hybrid, go buy the god-awful prius. camaros are performance/muscle cars. no muscle car should EVER be a hybrid. nobody would by it(except maybe you and 5 other ppl). im not trying to be mean, or bash your ideas, but honestly, if they ever made a camaro hybrid, it would be the worst mistake they could make. certain things just dont go together.

I don't think it will ever happen... but if you pull it off as a mod, be sure to post the Prius engine swap DIY in the forum!

Camaros / Corvettes are MUSCLE Cars. Not fuel economy cars. Even though I am impressed with the Camaro's 24MPG highway.

Let the flaming begin!

If you believe those numbers I have camaro that gets 38 MPG to sell you. I also own a 09 Tahoe and my wife for some reason looked at the Hybrid before we purchased the Z71. It was just not worth the extra money. This would be the same if they made a hybrid Camaro.
