Last night Space Shuttle Endeavour was removed off the back of SCA 905. She was then put in the United Airlines hangar. For the next week, NASA technicians will remove the tailone, install OMS pod nozzles, and adding the finishing touches to the orbiter before handing her over to the California Science Center on September 28th.

As for SCA 905.. She will fly back to Dryden in California and join her sister SCA, SCA 911, in retirement and a parts donor to NASA's Sophia program.

And I used to delivery stuff to the base there also. Small world.
No problem, Jason! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Do you plan on watching her be transferred to the California Science Center?

I was thinking it was going to be housed in the UA hanger. My parents both work for United and they said it was a pretty big deal for it to be housed there. My mom actually flew into LAX last night for work, but she wasn't able to get any pictures of the shuttle......

My girlfriend and I might head down to SoCal to see the shuttle heading to the Space and Science Center, so I'll be sure to get some good pics.....with a DSLR this time!

I wish I could take the trip down to LA to see, but its a but far for me. I will go and visit the museum someday, for sure. Probably when my daughter can appreciate it more.

You know what happens to retired astronauts, who have nothing better to do with their time?

They turn into super bad-asses and dismember all the bad guys!!
