Just now installing a catch can, what shoud I do?
So my car has just over 13000 miles on it and I am finally putting on a catch can, since I have been "neglecting" my car for the last 2 years are there any steps that I, as a DIY with minimal difficulty, can do?
Should I run some seafoam through the gasoline or something else to clean the engine without having to take the entire engine apart? Just wondering, thanks in advance.

Honestly you should be fine. I installed mine at 13K miles. I looked at the valves a month ago when I had the intake manifold off. I saw a little gunk on them but nothing like it would have been if I had not installed a catch can. I now have 50K on my Camaro.
Anything you put in the gas tank will not touch the oil build up inside the manifold or valves.

At 13K you shouldn't be too bad off unless you have been racing. A Seafoam treatment wouldn't hurt but I wouldn't stress too much about it.

I am at 20,200 right now. I think it is time I get one installed.

No racing, infact, and don't laugh, I just got the car up above 90 mph for the first time last weekend when passing a semi that was peppering me with sand, so I am guessing I should be good.

YES, I collect approx. 1 oz per 1000 miles. I have traveled enough now to have stopperd a whole quart of oil from going back down thru my intake and on my valves.

Did mine at 32k but i treated my gas fairly frequently with the injection cleaner etc. Not alot of gunk only a little.
