For what it's worth...though I know I can't possibly redeem myself, now....

I want to see a Z28 that is worthy of the great name. A suspension package, for all intents and purposes...just isn't enough. So I'd like to see them wait for the next generation to bring it back in a big way.

Very simply take a 1LE stir in a generous amount of LS7 (bumped 20+HP) nix the MR suspension add in a "Justice" suspension with forged 20X10's, 305's and a 3.73 rear with ZL1 axles. Top off with a ZL1 frontend and aero kit, the Hot Wheels hood, ZL1 steering wheel and driving seats. Flog and enjoy!

"Friends" of the Z28 let me know if I missed anything.

Personally...always a great qualifier!...19s ala Pedders Camaro...with 305s at each corner would be fine. Lighter than comparable-sized 20s. But...and this a J-Lo-sized one...forged 19s don't currently exist within the hallowed and all-important GM parts bin, which means a unique wheel/tire combo and the necessity to lower the car to make that combo "look" right and expen$ive re-engineering.

If the 20s work for the ZL1, "done deal" for the ZEE...imvho...

I'm so with you there, I'm tired of all these vehicles riding around looking like refugees from a monster truck competition and then the owner couldn't afford the fat tires to go on it!! On the serious side, smaller rims/tires make for a lower center of gravity which should translate to better track performance.

Don't see GM going away from 20's. I agree with your points Lowdown. A lower CoG can also be obtained with a lower aspect ratio.

If you go back and look at the 1st gen Z/28, they had 15" wheels/tires while most Camaros were produced with 14", yet the Z sat about two inches lower than the Camaros on 14". And while I understand that it would be more cost effective to use wheels that are already available/certified, I think the trend towards taller and taller wheels needs to stop and go back the other way somewhat. Otherwise they'll soon have all these cars looking like they're using old John Deere rear wheels with smoother tires and handling will go yet farther away, there is a limit to how tall a wheel you can put on and still maintain good handling with a given length/width of the chassis. I certainly don't have the technical knowledge to say where that limit is, but I do know it can be reached.

I do expect the max size wheel to be 19" on the 6th gen for this very reason. The problem with the current car is that it was designed to meet enthusiasts' demands for the concept to be produced as-is....that car wore 21 and 22s!!

Here's my question to some earlier comments:

Isn't the rolling weight a much more influential attribute that center of gravity of the wheel?

I hear ya' and I agree. My objective is to get 5th Gen Z28 built! That being said I am willing to compromise. Hear that GM I'm talking to You!
I will say the 20's have grown on me, but nothing taller. Yuck!!!
