Its your car brother. If you want to drive it in the winter, do so, you spent the money, you get to choose. But at least be responsible and put winter tires on. PZeros are simply not made to drive below 45 degrees. In extreme cold, there is a risk of cracking and blowout. Driving on them in the snow is a safety hazard to you and everyone else on the road around you, regardless of whether you are a good or bad driver. It only takes one bad day...

Both of mine are garaged. My ZL1 sits under a cover 5-6 days a week and my 2SS is cleaned and covered every night when it's parked. I don't mind driving either of the cars in the rain, and thankfully I don't live around snow. None the less I like my cars to stay as beautiful as the day I bought them.

Hmm let me think....because I can. Is that a good enough answer for you? Why do you drive yours in the winter? This thread, just like the 5 or more just like it don't get the message across that people do what the hell they want with their cars and don't need to explain their decisions to you.

I'm with you OP. I can't relate to folks who walk by a nice car to then go drive a beater.

I get some people have a nice truck or a nice second car they drive which makes sense.

I also think some people think these cars will one day be collectible which I just don't see. 1969 came and went.

Just because I drive mine all the time doesn't mean it's not babied and taken care of.

And. Toning wrong with asking, why people got their panties in a by punch is beyond me, they could have just moved on

I had a 98 5.9L with intake, headers and a tune. Thing was a monster! Got 9 mpg on premium

If I ever saw one with under 80k miles I'd buy it on the spot

Reasons to garage a Camaro or any car that YOU love does price really matter?
  1. I dont like washing my car all the time.
  2. Reduce wear and tear, keep the miles low.
  3. On a nice day, taking a show room clean car out of the garage is win.
  4. 4 wheel drive is much more fun & efficient in the snow.
  5. Would you want to risk spinning out or getting hit by someone in the rain?
  6. Maintain the value of the car as much as possible.
  7. That new car smell.

Respectfully, these are my opinions.

Honestly, I would if I could. I plan on keeping my SS forever, so I do want to take good care of it. Fortunately, I only have to drive it 4 out of my 6 daily work days [the other 2 days, my wife and I share her H3], and my commute is short, so my miles will stay low. We don't really get much crazy Winter weather out here, so I don't have to avoid snow very often, if ever. But if it does snow, I can just take my wife's truck. But with all that said, I really miss it on the 3 days a week that I don't drive it. I wouldn't be able to live in a really snowy part of the country. I'd go crazy being apart from my Camaro for that long.

And I do have to admit... I have been toying with the idea of getting like a $2k or $3k junker to drive to work. I have a possibility of a better job coming up in the near future [fingers crossed], and if I get it, I might buy that junker. We'll see...

My 2SS comes in at night, but gets driven rain or snow! Swapped in heritage wheels with all-seasons so I don't have to deal with PZeros on the factory 20's in the winter.

Here's my bit, these cars aren't going to win awards at keeping their value. They aren't rare. The 2SS I have is maybe more desirable in the used market than a LS/LT or a 1SS, but not as much as a car with the RS package. There's always a more desireable/collectible car that's gonna ruin your value nomatter what mileage. Think WS6 t/a's, a higher mileage ws6 t/a will still get a better price than a regular t/a with lower miles, a ws6 hood and supporting oem parts to make it a ws6 clone. I've owned f-bodies in the past and its a losing battle ... no matter how much you try, it'll depreciate. I keep my cars well maintained and serviced and tastefully modded ... and in the end, if I lose a grand or two to sell her over someone's car with less mileage, it'd still be worth it cos I got to drive it and enjoy it much more than on just fair weather days.

Because I have a daily driver/commuter, my 2 sport bikes when the weather is better and a truck for more heavy duty errands. That and I already paid $300 out of my own pocket, parking my SS at work, for a fat door ding because the parking spaces are tight and it's pretty congested at work... I bought my SS specifically as a weekend/day off car and to take on the occasional track day.
