I'd assume anything as long as it's DOT approved?

DOT approved should be I guess. If it's SNELL, even better.

As long as its a newer helmet you should be fine. Motorcycle helmets are accepted at most drag strips, but ATV/dirt bike or open style helmets usually aren't.

SNELL 2005 or better is required at most tracks.

Everyone attending will be good with a SNELL 2005 like Mindz said.

Here's a helmet appropriate for C5 Fest:

At the track I go to they really aren't too hard on you as long as it is DOT approved, however, if you are turning in some quick times the rules get more strict!!! As long as you stay in the 12's or slower you should be good to go with a DOT approved helmet.

Correct! Your average Wallmart special with only DOT rating is no good. But most good quality bike hemets will be snell rated.

The only time you truly need a Snell 2005 SA rated helmet is in open cockpit cars or cars going 9.99 or faster with full rollcages.

edit for clarification: A Snell rated helmet is needed for 13.99 or quicker. The above was defining when a SA helmet may be required.

No, NHRA rules state a Snell 2005 rated helmet for ANY car 13.99 and quicker.
But it has to be a Full Faced Snell 2005 if you are 9.99 and quicker.
