So uhm about those pulleys...
Yeah....sitting here waiting for tow truck. Same one I think as Johnny that seized the V3 pulley spins and so is the middle one but the other one is "stuck". Belt was wrapped around the steering wheel hose and I think tore it cause there is fluid all over the underside....Stupid me thought it wouldn't happen to me till they sent me ones... Any one have andy's phone #?

PM sent. Let me know if I can help. Let me guess, you didn't put the stock belt, 1/2" breaker bar with extension and an 8mm Allen wrench in your car, did ya? If you did, you could be driving right now.
You may have had the power steering hose get knocked off. If so, easy fix. Hopefully it didn't break a pressure line, but rather the return line. John B. |

Fear not, they'll make it right, as they're a straight up great company. Tell Andy you need a new belt and he'll make sure you get that as well. Not sure, but they may be on back order on the bearings.
Did you call GM Roadside Assistance? That's all free n stuff. John B. |

Get Hybrid Ceramic bearings from Boca Bearings and be done with it....they press out and in after a snap ring is removed... They will last longer than the ones IPF is upgrading to. They are sealed and run cool and long. Just pulled mine after 7500 miles to inspect, absolutely perfect....

Sycraft, help these guys out. How about a link and a price? Details have been pretty scarce except for you mentioning them here and there.
Just out of curiosity, how do you inspect sealed bearings? John B. |

There should be a number on the bearing, go here
http://www.bocabearings.com/dropin.a...d-Bearings.txt Call them and get 4 sealed , hybrid ceramic bearings with synthetic cages. They are not cheap, about 60 bucks each... I think the size is a 6003 http://www.bocabearings.com/bearing-...2YSTH9C3BK5NB2

Wow, for that price I think I'll take my chances with their German replacements. Sycraft, have you had a look at the new ones to compare? With my stock belt and tools in the trunk of course, I know I can get mine home now.

I have given my information and what not to the. When your's seized up did the other pulley need to be replaced? mines is gunked up with the rubber from the belt the other one, but it can still spin.

The belt gunk just wipes right off with a little effort. The pulley themselves do not get replaced, just the bearings. You will want to replace all four bearings, which covers both pulleys. Since the replacements are from a different manufacturer, you'd certainly want to get those old ones out of there.
Remove both pulleys. There are black spacers installed on both sides of the pulleys. Remove the four spacers. Now, you'll see the bearings. You'll have to press those out and press the new ones in. If you don't know how, have a machine shop do it and then have the machine shop press the spacers back into place. To replace the belt, you'll have to unbolt the front half of the supercharger from the rear bracket. It's all done with Allen head fasteners and is pretty easy. I undid my intake and discharge hoses, but later saw that I probably didn't even need to do that since they are flexible enough to move enough to allow you to slip the belt into place. Refer to the installation instructions to route the belt correctly and then bolt everything back together, reinstalling the idler pulleys in the process. If you stare at the whole thing long enough before you start, you'll see which bolts need to come out and go back in; I think it's only five bolts plus the pulleys themselves. Not too bad. If you need to drive in the meantime, reinstall your stock belt (routing is in your owner's manual). It will run just fine. Let me know if you get stuck and I'll try to help. John B. |
