Mad As Hell!!!!!

So, last Friday I went to my dealer(a dealer) and put down my deposit for the 2010 camaro and talked what the price would probably be and stuff. The sales guy told me that the car would sell for MSRP and they don't do mark ups.

Well, at 9:30am this morning I went in to finish the deal. I was greeted by my sells guy who told to go talk to the sells manager. So, I went to sat down and the guy goes over everything. Than we went over the price. I told him that I saw the was price was starting at $30,995 for the SS and he confirmed that and than he said those beautiful words "plus mark up". What mark up? a $5000.00 mark up because we're only getting three. I about filled out. I asked for my deposit back and let loose on the guy. The guy tried to shake my hand as he tried to defend dealer mark up and I simply told him that "I don't do mark ups nor shake a greedy man's hand"!

Oh well, I guess I'll just wait until the 2011 camaro comes out with more options, trim, colors, and the bugs worked.

People please do not get suckered in to paying some high dealer mark up. The camaro is a production car and everyone that wants one will get one. Thanks for reading! out.:upset:

Did you not have them put MSRP in writing when you gave them the deposit?

Now, they aren't going to honor their promise. Get it in writing! On the whole, dealers aren't trustworthy. You need to get written confirmation of everything they tell you.

Call around to some of the other dealers in your area. Also check the MSRP or under thread. There will be somebody that wants your business.

Just returned from my Criswell Chevy Dealership in Gaithersburg MD after placing my order. They are less than 40 minutes from Ashburn. Their current allocation is 21, and I was 8th or 9th on their list.
Give salesman Russell Cater a call if interested at (301) 590-8423 or Sales Manager Brien Geist at 301 921 9806
Tell Them Patrick sent you and you are from Camaro5.com. I'm sure they will be within $500 of MSRP

The only thing we can do about dealers marking up the cars, is shop other dealers. They do it for popular cars because they can, and the market will decide. Lets' not call them crooks or greedy because they want to increase profits. They are simply taking part in capitalism. Supply and Demand. They have a right to sell the car for whatever people will pay for them. Just as you had the choice to walk out and not do business with them. I think you made the right choice. Another thing to think about is, that if the dealers don't mark them up, and there is a demand for the cars, then buyers will mark them up and sell them on ebay anyway. So what is the difference. Find a dealer that will sell you the car for what you are willing to pay. That is how its supposed to work. Let the free market decide.
