If you're buying a vert to drag race then... well I hope you lose.

As previously stated by others, I don't understand what they are carping about re: the steering wheel. 3-spoke is 3-spoke, their fingers would be straight on both cars. Also how hard are you gripping the steering wheel to hurt your fingers?

They didn't touch on the fact that the Stang's wheel doesn't telescope...one of the reasons I didn't buy an '11 V6 Mustang was the fact that I couldn't get comfortable behind the wheel. Either my legs were too close to the pedals or I sat too far away from the wheel. (5'10)

Ok, first the result of the review is what I expected.

Keep in mind the complaints they have (visibility, understeer, steering wheel, shift knob) were ALL major threads here on Camaro5. Everyone of those had "our own" comlaining. So MT just thinks they can make a bigger deal about them. Their choice.

However, as many on here know, none of those realy matter when you sum up the whole of the Camaro. The steering wheel emulates a deep dish of old. I happen to like it.....a lot. Much better than if they had stuck in the corporate standard wheel.

That being said, the Camaro IS a wonderful convertible. I've driven it and put wayyyyy more miles on it than MT did. It is a special car and when members get theirs shortly, I fully expect that to be reiterated STRONGLY.

Motortrend was probably Ford's "secret" bailout while Chevy and Dodge had to go through the gov't.

The only part I want to challenge is the fact that even though the camaro put down more G's and a faster figure 8, they gave handling to the mustang...

Who cares? Buy what you want and enjoy your purchase. You don't need to listen to MT's or anyone's opinion on the subject. The 5th Gen certainly has its share of flaws but what car doesn't? I love my car and couldn't care less if someone else doesn't like it.

When you do the math, you have to divide all the numbers by "Live Axle" - which gives the Mustang a superior advantage to all of the inferior rivals running that stupid, heavy, complex independent rear end. Hard to believe that BMW, GM, Mercedes, Audi, Volvo - you know...the companies that MT have practically wrapped their collective lips around for years...have the rear ends of their cars so screwed up.

Just think how much better a ZR1 would be with a good old corporate 12-bolt hanging off the back!

Did anyone else see that hilarious video where the verts did a drag race after the tops were lowered? They wouldn't let the Camaro take off until the top was all the way down.

I would expect this. The mustang has less of a weight gap between vert and coupe.

Yes, the Mustang's much quicker top makes it the better choice...that and the live axle.
