Motortrend/Ford taking shot at Camaro!

I just picked this up today, might be old news but I did not find it in search so I thought I would post.

It seems that the Camaro is now in the same class as the Mustang Shelby GT500. I think this is a pretty good plug for Camaro actually. They go after the Camaro with there big dog, and avoid mentioning the base GT that we all know can't compare. I feel pretty good that the Camaro is being compared to a car that is $20k plus more.

Totally unfair comparison, ford better hope they never build a 500+hp z28, and that blue and red is awful looking

Good job MT...way to compare an S/C car to a N/A car. How about we stick a supercharger on the SS? Lets see...superchargers on an OE safe setting will make about 40% more horsepower than the engine is already making. So that means the 5.4 in the GT500 is making about 385 HP to achieve 540HP. The 2SS makes 426. Supercharge that at 40% and you get 596...in a car that weighs approx. 300lbs less and costs approx 12K less. Oh yeah, and Ford wouldn't "pony up" for an IRS again either. I guess I'm missing MT's point here.

i saw that a few days go & it made me laugh that they felt the need to stuff a roll of quarters in their pockets.

it's like saying "ha ha! my fossil watch keeps better time than your casio."

Both Camaro models are going to be available with more power than the Mustangs... the GT500KR is trying to compete with the Corvette. and there are gonna be GMPP parts to put the 500KR to shame

OK GM partner with someone to provide a blower kit for the Camaro that does not void the warranty and I will buy it. I would think it would be around 5K, so for around 40K to 42K the Camaro can easily beat a 48K Stang.

First of all, that Shelby looks butt-ugly with those colors.

And second of all, how can you compare the two? If they would have been "fair" they would have put the GT Mustang with 315hp compared to the SS Camaro with 426hp

"Take that Mustang!"

I hope I will too, but that won't be a "stock" one, it won't be a "recognizable" one.

That makes the difference. Not personally but as a whole, as long as we don't get a Z28 or whatever made by GM with 550hp, Ford will be able to say "we have more power".

GM people, if you wanna stop that "who has the biggest?" thing just make a Z28, and basta! We'll have the lethal weapon and this will stop this whole ford/chevy thing.

But hey GM people .. you won't stop that by closing your HiPo dept ...
