low compession in cyl 7???
ok here goes, my father in-law traded in his 2013 ZL1 that he bought brand new (and babied the thing with only 5,429 miles on it) so went to the dealer and bought it (without test driving it because I knew what I was getting) he traded it in on a Thursday I went bought it Monday keep in mind 4th of July holiday the dealer was closed, so it sat on the lot for a couple days mind you, anyways.... I got he car finalized and was going over the features in the car with the salesman when I started it up it was running extremely rough and the service stabilitrac was on along with the check engine light so the salesman said just shut it off and start it back up so I did, same thing... then he said ill have service take a look at it... so my baby gets whisked away off to service. They test it and run diag to find out there is low compression in cyl7 so they go ripping and tarring into the poor thing and find out that one of the valves is either bent to sticking for some reason (tech said "it could be flashing from a plastic mechanism inside the engine") i'm thinking WTF are you talking about!!.. so I go back to the salesman and ask who had the car out joyriding and ****ed it up! he looked me in the face and boldly lied to me and said NO ONE that car sat on the lot and never moved, so I do a little recon and digging to find out that from my father in-laws paper work and my paper work there is a 12 mile difference, so right now the car is pushed out the bay and sitting outside in the rain with the hood popped (not open) with greasy hand prints all over it from people pushing!!! and i'm looking for advice to WTF just happened!! anybody ever have a nightmare like this happen to them? im extremely not HAPPY right now! |

low compession in cyl 7???
I just bought a 2013 ZL1 from the local deal that my father in-law traded in, I know the car was babied and not beat ... it only has 5,400 miles on it, but the dealer has it all torn apart right now because when I came to pick it up she was running ROUGH cel and horrible idel, the prognosis is low compression in cly7 what could cause this? oh keep in mine there is now 2 Camaros with similar problems at this dealer now... 2014 Camaro SS with 2,400 miles on and my ZL1 with 5,400 miles on it... kind of makes me wonder if anyone else has had this issue or if the dealer is over reacting a little??
please help |

If you are keeping it, then they owe you a brand new engine. I don't know why you would keep the deal though.

I've heard of one other ZL1 dropping a valve. Not sure on what cylinder though. I still don't know why you would agree to keep the deal going on purchasing a ZL1 with a blown motor.

If it's recorded on the paperwork that there's a 12 mile difference on the odometer from when the car was traded in to the day you signed the paper, ....have that in your hand.
Then (before revealing that to the salesperson) ask them, ..."has the car been driven at all by anyone at the dealership?". If his answer is, "no", ...ask him if he can explain the difference. This may not help in the end, and the issue may very well have nothing to do with them at all. But, it may at least get them to double check... (With that said, ...I'd be holding back on the deal for the time being...) |

12 mile difference? Maybe they had to check it prior to your dad-in-law's trade-in?
Either way, it's f'd up now and I'd be running... |

yup, although initially it was in good hands w/ the prior owner, it's now been damaged by the dealership or a fluke...but I'd let it go. Maybe your FIL's not disclosing all info to you?

I know this car inside and out that's what really gets me... it was top notch when he traded it in..3 days before I bought it and the dealer swears up and down no one took it off the lot... but our records and my father inlaws records indicate there is a 12 mile increase soooo someone from the dealership had to beat it prior to me purchasing it

I am certainly confused why your father in law traded it in, only for you to buy it back from the dealer? Why not just buy it from your father in law and not pay the dealer mark up? |

They put 87 octane in it and then someone took it out and beat on it and cracked the ring land on #7 is my guess. In stock form that engine should stand up to whatever you give it.
But with cheap gas it could happen.

father in-law traded it in on a 2014 chevy Silverado badlander with Tuscany package, I wasn't home (working away) when he did this but when I got home I ran up there and bought it...
