Buell is shutting down

Hey unsure if this is a repost, i didn't see it with a search. and if it's in the wrong spot feel free to move it......

Check out their website, the video from Erik Buell pretty much says it all.

http://www.buell.com/en_us/

It's always sad to see a company stop production, hopefully theres a chance they can be sold and keep moving forward.

Nah, no loss...they were great massage bikes though! Always got a full body massage when I rode one!

^^ i don't know anything about their reliability, sounds like it wasn't great though

always disappointing to see an American company that's been around for a while shut the doors though.
there was talks/rumor/speculation that BRP would look to move into the motorcycle market, and would possibly buy Buell, apparently harley didn't do a great job managing it ?. totally unsubstantiated though, just rumors.

i end my post on this note:
TRIUMPH FTW!

Whether you were a fan or not, I hate to see another American company fold. You can see the heartbreak in Mr. Buell's voice and hear it in his voice. He poured his heart and soul in his company. Many others will be out of work. Sad.

Like I said - this is an upsetting turn of events.

I've never heard of any issues with any buell motorcycle, only that they have rock solid powertrains.

Either way, its always a sad day when an american company has to fold. Especially after the great success that they have had recently.

A few quotes from motorcycledaily.com that I shared feeling with:

Jeers to Harley . . . for jettisoning Buell, and making the odds I might actually ride an American-made motorcycle even further out of reach. Buells were still a little too expensive and quirky for my budget, but they were definitely making enough progress to be included in a sport (or adventure) bike lover’s decision-making process. Now they’re back to their core focus: churning out high-priced boat anchors for posers. Yippeee! Eric

How sad. Harley boomed the last few years due to boomers with fat wallets trying to buy some pre-packaged rebellion.

When that generation is gone from riding—and it is happening sooner than people think—who will buy their snoring, bloated bikes?

You can’t tell me that today’s KTM and Kawasaki riders will drop 2* times the dough on one of those chrome couches when they turn 55.

Generations X and Y weren’t raised on Harley mystique. I grew up seeing Harleys broken down on the side of the road…

Buell had a lot of misfires but an even greater measure of innovation and passion. This was Harley’s hope for a future, a leading edge.

With boardroom decisions like this, another AMF-esque buyout will soon be on the horizon. Jeff
