with proper gearing, drag coefficient, and AFM. 30mpg is just the starting line. like dragon said my 98 z28 M6 ls1 was getting 27 mpg high way. that was going up hill most of the way. from elevation 200 ft above sea level (fayetteville, nc) to 1700 ft above sea level (boone, nc) in about 200 miles.

but with that being said, my 2007 1500 ext cab silverado with the 5.3 v8 (AFM) gets a combined highway city of 18-19mpg. it's rated at 22 mpg highway and 17 or 18 city. So yea crappy numbers but I've watched my mpg drop from 22 mpg (while driving on a highway) down to 18 in a few mins once I hit city traffic. but it stayed around 18 until I got out of the city and slowly came back up to about 19.5. at least it aint 8mpg city (my Z28 always got that. wonder why? lol).

The problem is that that is WITH AFM engaged... i don't see this or any other V8 getting much more than 26 highway at this point in time. In a few years? yes but not right now... lets get real people...

why not? with the right gear ratio with out AFM it's very quite possible to get 30 mpg. that isn't a problem. AFM should be an aid to it.

Well i guess maybe... it is a stretch though... IMO i think that the MFR's should work harder on city MPG for the time being though... we have cars that can get pretty good Highway mpg now why not work on what we all do just about every day...?

Huh we should be between France and Germany on that list.

Im convinced the ls3 will get good fuel economy. The ls1 cars pushed 30 mpg on the highway. Like anything else if you put your foot in it you can kiss mileage goodbye. Still, the gm v8 engines are impressive to me.

I agree about city mpg. But, the main reason I usually get 9 mpg in city was I stop light "raced." accelerated a pretty quick to get to the next light. which guzzles gas. if people wouldn't do that their mpgs in the city would be higher. some more then others. all depends on a ton of different things. but yea.

I agree there... but my manual 2.2L cavalier still gets about 25 MPG when i do this daily in the city...

Camaro MPG?

Ive heard from various sources that the Camaro will have surprisingly good MPG. The rumor i heard was that the highway MPG was 28-30 MPG. Has anyone else heard about this or can anyone confirm it?
