GM: Throw me a bone!

"All Camaro ZL1 models produced to date are currently being held by General Motors for a quality assessment." --Russell M. Clark

OK, what does this mean?

I hope it's QC, I'll be anticipating a near perfect car.

Is there an issue? GM be transparent and let me know what it is. I won't bail out. You will actually make me more loyal and I will appreciate your efforts to correct it. I'm a car guy. That's why I ordered a ZL1 in the first place!

Or is it mass saturation day when a thousand new ZL1's hit the street at the same time? Cool but unlikely.

At nearly 70k with taxes I would like to know what's up.

Brand new model. Launch process underway. Commence shipment to commerce gate has not been passed. Lots of activity I am sure. CTF cars being driven. CTF drivers issues weekly reports. Product team accumulated and reviewing a ton of data. CTF issues being examined and analyzed. Cars from initial builds being reviewed. Processes being examined. All efforts being made to make sure the vehicles are correct prior to shipping to customers, because that's what we expect.

This is a completely normal launch procedure and everybody with one on order just needs to be patient. GM doesn't owe us anyhting. They will delvier the totally awesome car we are all expecting. They haven't broken a single promise and really owe us nothing at this point. Let's all be patient.

Making sure that quality is job 1. That comment is made by many, but GM is proving it. I am confident that when I get my car, it will be right!

I can't wait to read the posts when people start getting them! It will be fun to read and experience what they are feeling.

I went thru all this waiting last year this time when I ordered my Vert.
The Vert was built 3-22-11, left the plant two days later and just sat in a lot there in Oshawa.
No matter who I talked to or who the dealer talked to, NOBODY would give us a clear answer why the car had been sitting for 4 weeks. If they had just told me to be patient that it was part of the QC process (like it is for the ZL1), then i'd be glad to wait some more.

I finally got fed up with not getting an answer, and asked the dealer for my deposit back. Becky did a search and found a very similar car that had just come in to another local dealer. I took a ride over, looked at the car and bought it.

Of course I discovered that my original Vert left the plant grounds the very next day.

My kids and I waited an hour and forty five minutes to eat at the Cheesecake Factory this weekend. When my son took the first bite of his filet, he smiled and said "dad, I don't even remember waiting so long now". Our ZL1's will be the same.

I have had two 2012 camaros...both had small imperfections in either the paint or interior. Both my cars came with scratches on the speedo/rpm plastic gauge cover. They probably will not be letting zl1s be delivered like that. I had the other plastic gauge cover fixed on the first car under warranty. On my 2ss I just said screw it I can live with it...

Gentlemen, rush a 580HP super charged track car out the door with Ford waiting in the wings to bash any little thing wrong with it = bad idea. Just my 2 cents worth.

They have already produced X amount of saleable ZL1s correct? and those cars are sitting in Oshawa correct? And now they are going through QC? So say they find something, do they have to re-do all of the cars they already produced? Do they crush the cars already made, or will there be two VIN numbers for the first few cars produced?

Man.. did you see that the rear 14 bolt differential weighs 200 more lbs than the SS differential? And the axles are stronger than the 3500HD truck axles.

This is ONE beastly machine.

I'm gonna have to grow a beard or it's gonna make me look puny.

I rather wait knowing GM and Camaro Team are 100% about the release of ZL1 than to get it and be grounded due to a fault not caught and have to wait to get it repaired!

They realize as we all have, the $$$ cost us consumers are paying is the must ever for a factory produced Camaro and keeping in Oshawa to cross the T's and dot the Is well worth the wait

I wonder if it has something to do with the tires and the cold?

Will the next batch get the same scrutiny? While I don't like the waiting period I do want the same attention to detail.
