ZL1 or Corvette Stingray Z51
I love my 2014 ZL1 and I have no regrets on getting it . But i do wonder what owning the Corvette Stingray Z51 would be like. The performance number of both cars are very simuler - 0 to 60 and quarter mile times. Even with the Corvette being 800 lb liter but the ZL1 has 140 more HP. Do any of you have any regrets ? is there any pros or cons you know of one car over the other ?
I do know sometimes i get a little pissed at all the flaws in my car paint and wonder dose Gm has better controls on the Corvette ... |

Well my parents own the C7 Z51 3LT 7 Speed, honestly two different cars even though they have similar suspension. BUT.. If I could I would get the C7.

Right now I think the Z51 is awesome, but the ZL1 is an exclusive almost limited edition car. I have already seen a lot more C7 corvettes on the road than ZL1s. To me, there is something special about having a rare car. If it was a C7 Z06, no question I'd rather have the corvette, but then again, it's likely to cost twice what I paid for my ZL1 and that's more than I can afford to spend on a car right now.
In another year, the C7 will be so common I won't even look twice unless it's modded or the elusive Z06 version. ZL1 will still be a scarce breed....

Ditto.....If the choice was C7 Z06, I'd take the vette.

Honestly, I've never really had an eye for a corvette. They are great, no doubt; Its just that I've never had a burning desire to have one.
Maybe one day when all of the bills are paid for I may splurge for one. At the moment I'm good with what I have.

Llke lbls1 said. If I really wanted a Corvette, I'd have a Corvette. They just don't do it for me. I don't HATE them, and I will give a second look if they drive by, but, they don't float my boat.
Now, if someone let me "borrow" a C7 Z06 for an afternoon... I'd love to drive one!! |

to me the downside to owning a vette is more of the not so practical standpoint.
it is a two seater, it is low ie bad roads or gravel roads are kind of no joy. I live kind of rural so I know people I would not even be able to take a corvette to there house without fear of issue. other than that there is no downside to a C7. if I did not have young children I would proabably have a C7 over a Zl1. since it is my toy vehicle I can live with the stuff I posted but I hate not being able to use a car because of lack of room and that is where I am at. The c7 is a bad machine IMO but I would rather have the 2015 Z06 if truth were to be known. I am starting to develope a soft spot for that car. maybe I can get dual citizenship for my daughters and they can build nike's or something in a forein country for a couple years so daddy can have a Z06.

That Z06 is going to be a total Beast! 650HP, crazy torque, can't wait to see some of the magazines post track/drag times. Chevy did a great job with the Stingray! But the Z06 will be the Stingray on STERIODS!!! I'm a manual shift kinda girl, but that 8 speed auto sounds like it will really put down the numbers. Want to see the auto vs manual times. |

ZL1 = Better everyday car, more room, etc.
Corvette = Sits lower, less room. |

The C7 is having horrible paint issues. Just take a look at Corvetteforum and you'll find lots of posts from unhappy owners.

ORANGE PEEL, Ouch. Looked at a few here at the dealership, and they had serious orange peel, and that was inside the showroom. They look even worse in the sunshine. |

My BMW's had orange peel too. I don't think I've ever seen a factory paint job without some orange peel.
