I have a small oil leak from the small bronze part with a hose going from it to the block on a 99 v6. Any ideas

Looks like it is the engine knock sensor.

Did you try re-tightening it?

Looks like an oil pressure sender, unplug it and start the car and see if you have any lights or guage not working.

It wasn't loose to the touch and I don't want to take a socket to it in till I know what it is I'm unplugging in order to get the socket on it.

I'll put it back up on the ramps tomorrow and see if anything's changed.

However I did just Google both parts and it looks similar to the engine knock sensor and looks really nothing like the oil pressure senders that came up on the parts website

Are you talking about that rubber hose leaking or the thing with the wires on it. I don't think they are connected together.
The part with the wires is the knock sensor as far as I can tell,from the diagrams on the 3.8 L V6.

Sorry I should have been more specific but it's the part that I guess is the engine knock sensor
