The PTB was my second mod right after the CAI. The HexVents started out as mostly an appearance mod for cause they look killer! They cool the engine bay quite well. I noticed about a 2º drop in operating temps. You can see heat pouring out of them at stop lights. I have my trays in all time and have been in plenty of rain. They do their job well.

My suggestion is to get the exhaust and PTB. I had that combo with a RotoFab on my 2011 1LT and loved every moment of it. Then you can think more about the vents or the TL1 insert.

If you want to add a strut tower brace later, make sure you factor that in on your measurements as this may change placement.

It's the same as the ZL1 air extractor. It's primary function is to reduce under hood pressure at speed which reduces front end lift. It's not truely designed just for heat extraction, that is actually a secondary benefit. The design of the ZL1 and TL1 extractors actually aid in the removal of the under hood air at speed as the airflow across the hood at that point actually sucks the air out from under the hood. The Hex vents are too far back on the hood to provide much assistance at speed for this. Basically it relies more in the air entering the engine compartment to force its way out the vents. I think the hex vents will allow more heat to escape while sitting still than the TL1.
Here is what mine looks like.

The hex vents have grown on me. I plan on getting them but want a bodyshop to install them and then paint my stripes.

Also how are the vents. Do they cool very well? And how many of you run them with the splash trays off in the rain? And how many run them with the trays on all of the time?
The vents do extract heat well. While I'm driving I can usually see a lot of heat coming up from under the hood. I know many people do not use splash trays. Without the trays more heat is extracted. There isn't a problem running them in the rain, because the air pressure usually keeps water out. If there is water under the hood it won't be a problem because the electrical parts are sealed with silicone rubber. Worst case scenario, you'll get some water spots on the engine.

Most body shops can cut them for you. If you're going to the next Camaro Fest, then we can do a free installation.
