Did mine for the first time at 4700 miles. Plan on doing it every 5000 or so. Any sooner is a waste of money. Oil life monitor still said 54% remaining but I think the manual says 6000 max regardless.

Some of these guys drove off from the dealer with the gas pedal mashed to the floor and haven't let up since
They change the oil at 500 miles and what is left of the tires at 1000 miles

Bingo. I plan to break mine in hard, so that'll hold true in my case.

Change the oil the first time and see the crap that is in it. $60 for a do it your self oil change wont be such a big deal and is cheap insurance once you see what is left in your oil bucket especially when you just paid over 25K for your car.
And special break in additive? So this is some even more lubricious and viscous "stuff" to make your engine break in? Sounds like phoey to me. Cheers K |

What crap. ? I did my own at 3000 miles and put it through a coffee filter. Nothing!
Then sent it out for analysis ...............still nothing. "Detected " silicone at low levels. Unless you are really mashing the gears, changing the others is a waste and not very green.

I changed my oil around 1500 miles and could have collected you lots of metal shavings! I don't mash my car, gears, or anything else. Diff fluid was murky, but no shavings I could see. Tran fluid looked ok...those 2 won't be changed very often.
