Ok, so I saw someone post how you need to report your oil changes and things of that nature to Carfax to keep your warranty. So I created my account and put everything as DIY, because I rotate my own tires and change my own oil. Will DIY be good enough to keep my warranty? And should I specify the oil I used?
Also, is said my registration is overdue. How do I fix this?

Edit: I do have my tags and registration up to date. Just as clarification.

You did what? I would go back into Carfax and delete everything just as soon as possible. Talk about scams.

you don't need to report anything, but you do need to be able to show that it was done. not really that hard now a days as every repair shop and quickie lube keeps computerized records. If your a DIY'er then you probably want to keep receipts and document when you have it done.

There are spaces in the owners manual to write everything down. Then just keep your receipts with your owners manual. Even that isn't strictly required to keep your warranty.

Well, I will tell you to listen to the one telling you to record the info in your owners manual.
Not sure why you believed anybody that told you to report it to Carfax.

To keep your warranty in place, you only have to show that all service work was done using approved spec parts.

Note: That does not mean any particular dealer or shop has to do it, or even what brand of fluids/parts they use.

Any shop (or even yourself) can perform the work, and use any product that meets the factory spec.
Just keep good records of the work performed and products used.

Thank you very much. It was just reported on this site that that was what a dealer said was a reasoning for the warranty being voided.

Sorry but per federal law, they can only "void" warranties because of who did the work unless they do the work and provide the fluids for free. As long as the dealer charges for the service or fluid, they can not say anything about you doing it yourself or going somewhere else.

Also you don't even need to keep records and receipts. Remember, the burden of proof is on them. They have to prove that it wasn't done and that you didn't use the right fluid, not the other way around.

Personally I keep a service log book for myself and for possible future owners, not for the dealer and certainly not for GM.
