Low Oil
I run synthetic in my 2011 V6 with 65K highway miles.
On my way back from NY to MA last Monday morn when CEL went on. 4.3k miles on the oil. Called the dealer and they were booked for 4 days. Then engine started to misfire and "rumble" when idling. Stopped at AZ for OBD check - list of codes: P0011 ("A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance) P0014 ("B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance) P0300, 302, 306 (misfires) 11 & 14 both have oil pressure/level as possibles - check dip stick and drew a blank. Valvoline 1/4 mile down the road confirmed 1.5 quarts short before they reloaded and reset CEL. Check parking locations - dry. Visited dealer Thursday - no advice except to check oil level every weekend (really?) and change synthetic every 4K miles. No suggestion on how to check if I'm burning it. Weather has been very hot. Do we really need to change syn every 4k miles? Check oil every weekend? Any suggestions on how to tell if I have a problem? Been running for a week and all seems fine.... |

You should really check your oil every time you fill the car with gas. From what others have posted previously, these engines need to have the oil changed @ 5k miles or less.
With those codes, I'd be surprised if you didn't have timing chain problems.
