Auto Shift & Manuals fuel shut off

I have found out that the automatics will auto shift to the next gear when it reaches a certin rpm redline even if in performance manual electronic shift mode. Also, the Manual tranny car will shut off the fuel to the injectors if that rpm redline limit is reached too. My question is: Can this be altered through chip changes or reprogrammed for a higher limit or even disabled? I am aware of the reason it's factory set this way!

I am sure a tune can take care of that no problem.

If its anything like the G8 GT's auto, it should bounce off the rev limiter all day if you put it in manual shift mode.

Don't know about disabling the automatic shifting in manual mode, but the RPM limiter should be easily adjusted. In the LS1 F-bodies you could use several reprogrammers (such as Hypertech) or use LS1Edit for complete control over the computer.

Really, have you driven one? I read that the auto bounces off the rev limiter just like the manual, maybe it only bounces in sport mode...who knows for sure? I'll know next month, when I have mine

I've driven the challenger auto and found in manuel mode out of the hole it would shift before I did. I ask #3 about the camaro auto and I was told it too would shift. I was also told that the Manual tranny will shut off the fuel if you over reb'ed.

So, have I driven one? the answer is no. Have a riden in one, only a manual with #3.

Well, I got to drive an automatic yesterday at Barret-Jackson, they had 3 V6 Camaros there. They wouldn't let me drive it in manual mode, but it was fun to get behind the wheel. It makes sense that it would shift like you say. That's the point of having an automatic, right...perfect shifts every time.

They also had a G8 GXP and a few C6 Corvettes driven by Bondurant drivers. I rode in a C6, all I can say is wow! The G8 out there was hanging with the Vettes in the corners, the only time the vettes were pulling ahead was in the straightaways. The track was set-up to run in 2nd gear.

Great! Glad to here you've driven a new Camaro! Envey!

That's the point of having an automatic, right...perfect shifts every time.

Yes, and No! If you're coming out of the hole, tires spinning, rubber burning, starting to get good traction and the tranny shifts before your ready.....INSTANT BOG....!! At least that's what I experienced with the SRT8. Everytime. I ran better times with easing out of the hole partical trottle. Now, don't get me wrong, I realize damage to your componets can be done if not handled properly, but I thought the shift was too early and I would rather be the one whom decides when it should shift. ( kind of the reason for manual shifting right? ).

Now, since I haven't had an opportunity to drive a new Camaro yet, I don't know if it will shift exactly like the Challenger or not!

I just hope it is a programming option. Like an early post suggested.
I am a Camaro man, but I have to admit....the SRT8 Challenger was fun!!

But, no Challenger here....it's has to be a Camaro!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just has to be!!!!!!!!!! We'll do what ever has to be done to the Camaro to make it like I want it!! Gots to be GM!

Honestly, I'd think it would be somewhat similar to the G8. The G8 has three shift modes. Automatic, Sport Shift and manual. The sport shift will shift for you and the manual will bounce off all day like an earlier post stated. I couldn't imagine they'd change that. Lets all just hope that it shifts a hell of a lot better than the G8s did out of the gate. They were absolutely awful.
