Turbos make incredible TQ at low RPMs IF they are sized properly. If you have too large of a back housing, this will cause you to have lag and depending on how much lag, you won't make a lot of torque. Once we get the final numbers, I will overlay our graph on a supercharger graph and show you that turbos make a lot of torque. Our kit is designed with zero lag in mind.
The evolution of the performance world is always getting better. Its all about turbo sizing!! |

Apologies if this question has already been asked, but how does turbo affect MPG?
Also, when one says "affordable," that can be very subjective. Some folks say 10k for a fully tuned supercharger upgrade is "affordable." What's your definition of affordable, JTinFL? -Mordeen

Turbos can actually increase mpg if you don't put the hammer down (and some people actually don't unless it's on the weekends). Otherwise, if you're boosting all day every day, of course your mpg will go down. I'm expecting this kit to be around 6-7k without shipping/installation, but if it's less, I'll be ecstatic. |

More details on the price soon but Mindz is in the general area. Also, he was exactly right with the MPG statement, its all how you drive it. The car should have basically the same MPG overall...... if you can keep your foot off the floor!

From a pure acceleration standpoint, turbo.
A turbo is exhaust driven so it will come up on boost very quickly at relatively low RPM. A SC is driven off the crank so it builds boost much more linearly. A turbo car has all of its torque available much sooner... that's a good thing. If you're going to track your car then it becomes not quite so black and white as linear power application becomes your friend. There are plenty of great turbo'd track cars though, it all depends on how the system is designed. |
