Why doesn't it work?

Also whats with the front tow hooks? Can't they put it on a flat bed without the hooks?

I want to take some longer trips but not without an actual spare tire.

Jim
The GM Spare won't clear the Brembo brakes without adding an adapter. There was a kit on ebay that someone had sourced all the parts to make it work. I have traveled cross country many times in my Camaro's and the reason I carry a full size spare is our tires are not usually sitting on a shelf at tire stores, sometimes they are on backorder and can't be found...once you have a flat and only option is getting towed on a Sunday night to a tire store or dealer that has to order a tire on Monday, that maybe gets there Tuesday, will be enough of a reason to want to have a full size spare.

With a spare I can swap it and be on my way whereever I am going and can get the new tire ordered to where I am headed. And anyone that has traveled in the middle of no where, New Mexico, Arizona, or Texas, waiting for help can be a long time depending on where you break.

Find a RS front wheel and get a tire that matches the outside diameter of your rear tires as you need that one to match for the posi, then a small jack and your set for any issue.

This is the setup I have:

So true about finding a 1LE tire though.

How much the spare cost? I cannot imagine where 22 - 295/275 would fit (truck / seat???)

you don't need a 22 -295/275, you just need a regular RS front wheel, 20x8 with a tire wrapped around it the same diameter as the rear tires....it will fit front or rear and will fit in the trunk...

Where do you put the spacer? Mine doesn't fit by the battery. I have to keep it in the trunk area....

I keep my spacer in a small bag and place it in the net thingie in the trunk

oh by the way, a 315 on an 11x20 rim fits through the trunk hole. it takes a bit of wiggling, but it will go

I can't believe everyone's replacing tires for a puncture!! Next time you want to burn through some money, send it to me and I'll blow it on something more fun. Why are we not using plugs to get us to a tire shop and that having it patched from the inside for a total cost of approximately $15 to $20?

Just curious, if it will work on my 1LE?

My Bad So. Cal

I am wearing and wrapped with Vossen 22 - 295/275.

In the event of a flat and I move to the spare, I never even thought of where the 22 would fit (trunk / seat)?

Prob defeating the purpose getting a spare if I cannot transport the 22-flat.

Jims Mongoose, the reason for the tow hook is when they hook a cable under the car, it will hit your splitter when they pull it onto the wrecker. I don't want my splitter damaged if I have to get the car towed. On my '69 Z28, my spoiler got cracked by the cable. Maybe I'm paranoid.

Thanks, are the hooks easy to get and install?

No problem, I was just trying to help....It will probably fit in the backseat, getting it in the trunk might be a problem...I had a 20x11 with a 315 Pirelli fit back there, which is pretty wide, but I would try your 22 and see if it works.
