SS Order, not until 2010!?

The dealer I was going to order from just called me and said everything on the internet about getting SS's in 2009 is BOGUS. He said if I order now, from his first allocation, my SS would arrive in 2010. Is this correct information?

I knew the 6 cylinders would be built first, but I was under the impression that if I ordered from a "first allocation", I would get my SS between April & June.

Please advise.

^A-freaking-men. They don't know crap about the cars and this kind of stuff most of the time. For example I went by the local GM dealer today to check out the new Opel Insignia (awesome car btw), and asked a simple question of what the difference between the Sedan and the Kombicoupe (as they're calling it) was. And he said it was like three small things. So I asked why it then was considered a separate model, and he said because it is. I got the impression that this guy really didn't know shit, and he didn't really give me any kind of attention and respect. Just one of the many reason that even if they get the Camaro (which I doubt) I'll never buy from them.

Good point. Doesn't hurt to reinforce the point though.

The sky is not falling.

Here's what we know:

1st: Chevy is initially going to get each dealer a V6 that doesn't count against their allocation.

2nd: Chevy has said they expect to fill all pre-orders by October of which over 3/4 are V8.

3rd: Friday is the first consensus.

4th: That's it. That is all we know.

Everything else is pure speculation.

^^^ What he said. That is correct. Some dealers may be able to get a couple V8's by April because of the size of their allocation (Classic Chevy, Paddock, etc). Then there will be the small allocated dealers on the other end of the spectrum who may not see their first ordered car until June (my opinion).

In any case, what happens is simple.

Friday your dealer gets told they can order, say for example, (2) V6's but (0) V8's for March delivery. Next step is your dealer should match (2) V6 pre-orders to those to available cars and click SEND.

Just so you know, what should happen is your dealer should match them in order of when they were pre-ordered, but they can instead match them in any order they want or even order lot cars instead. It is totally up to the dealer.

I'm in the same boat. I want to order a 1SS near the end of March, beginning of April, but I would like to think I would still have my car delivered before Oct. Though from what some people are saying it seems that if you don't have an order in by start of production it will not be part of the first batch of cars produced aka "deliverable by Oct". Is this more or less true?
