Bottom line.....if you take care of it....it will last a LOOOOOONG time. I have a '90 Camaro RS (bought it 20yrs ago) that has 298K miles on it and only normal maintenance. Replaced a couple water pumps, alternators and the clutch/pressure plate, valve seals, etc. No major issues.

All my Gm vehicles have gone high mileage. Some good examples........'86 Pontiac 6000 went 196k. Still ran with calapsed lifter. Ended up donating it. '93 Pontiac Bonneville had 230k on it when I sold it back in May. The car is still out running strong. '88 Buick Park Avenue was totalled at 236k. The day the insurance Co. came to pick it up it cranked up and ran like new. Exhaust smelled good and clean even with 6 different fault codes set. Check engine light glowed constantly but, the car just kept going. '86 Chevy C10 went 160k before being sold and repalced by a '78 F250 that was sold back in July with 360k on it's original engine (I know amazing for a Ford huh?). All my previous Camaros went well over 100k before being sold, wrecked, or modded. My 5th gen is my fifth. Always have used Valvoline motor oil. With my new Camaro I switched to their full synthetic on first oil change. They garantee your engine to 300k. I expect it will be much the same as the other GM vehicles I have owned.

I have a 2001 SS with 177,000+ miles on it. I bought it brand new with 6 miles on the odometer and now it has become my daily driver. Still runs great. I replaced the original clutch at 149,500 miles, alternator and and rear wheel bearings. Just requires a little routine checks and maintenance(oil, tires, ect). It's been the best car I've ever owned with the least amount of repairs and cost to keep it going. I'm sure i'll get the most out of my new one too. Oh, and i had to replace the dash(crash pad) too because of cracking and just being an eyesore.

I plan on driving mine until the engine has a massive failure, or simply becomes worn out. Then it's V8 swap time. I don't care if that's 10 years or 20 from now, I will still have it.
