Ha haa great story, Today I was able to drive on dry streets again, so I turned them both off for the first time since it started raining and WOW I forgot how fun it is to drive like that. I was going to post a thread about it but saw this one :-) YEha it's amazing the difference in the car. You can just feel it get p and go faster even without letting the tires loose.

I did it at a red light I was wanting to do a u-turn at and I turned so sharp I cut the guy off in front of me. The The rear end just whipped around I swear the front wheels did not move much more forward from where they were. THe girl next to us was yelling out of her window wooo hooo!! HAA Good times.

Mindz it was at the intersection in Folsom right next to Fats Asian BEstro if you know where that is?

Great write up.

I did that once. Coming out of a gas station onto the highway. I had no right turn to make more of a slight right 15 degrees or so. So I am lined up turn everything off, no cars coming and punch it. Sliding all over the place, speedo says I am doing 70 fishtailing back and forth down the highway trying to keep her straight. She finally staightens out after hitting 4th gear.

This is from a L99 after GM fix/fuse pull fixed her.

I'm glad that when I was younger I drove on dirt roads a lot. You learn a lot about how a car handles with the rear end loose.

I've watched videos and heard stories like this...and in this case it's good this was in a parking lot. I'm amazed at how many people don't know how to handle a car with this much power, and it gets away from them. Accidents/deaths waiting to happen.

If you're going to do this, practice it at the track or somewhere where it's safe. Killing someone because you don't know how to drive the car would be tragic....

Big ten tires is gonna put new tires on my car in a couple months. $2036.93 is my out the door cost. Now I'll get that down a bit by ordering them myself but as mine get lower I'll behaving some fun. Plus, I got my stockwheels and tires to play with too. They have 2 miles on them.

Dry, sunny and cool today so I think I'll go out and get me some times in.

Perfect time to check out my new suspension mods.

I assume that's a given. My spot is perfect. Mile to look in both directions. 4 lane with median, no traffc.

You would most likely be going faster with traction control on with a stock set up.

I remember reading about turning everything off so I hit the button and sure enough the lights come up on the dash. The red light changes to green and I start to make the turn and let the clutch all the way out in first gear, hit the gas....the next thing I know I'm sideways on the entrance ramp heading for the guard rail, I crank the wheel hard to the right to keep from hitting the rail. The car swings back to the right stones flying everywhere and now I'm facing back up the ramp I just came down looking into the eyes of the guy in the Chevy truck that was just behind me that is now in front of me. I can only imagine the terror in my eyes. The car does a complete 360 and about another 90 and now I'm in the grass off the right side of the entrance ramp about to go down the rather steep embankment. I turn the wheel back to the left and slowly motor back onto the ramp.

By now all the traffic that was behind me on the ramp is stopped and everyone is staring at me, smoke still in the air from my burning tires. The smell of rubber in the air was nothing compared to the smell of crap in my pants. I sat there for a few seconds and the guy in the pick up truck pulled up next to me and asked me if I was OK. I told him I would be OK when my heart rate got back nder 500. Then he said "looks like the car has more power than you can handle"...OMG how embarrassing but at least I didn't hit anything.

There was no way I was going to post this when it happened several months ago because I thought I was the only dumbass....no offense but I'm not alone! You won't touch that traction button to turn everything off again for a long time!

What a rush huh!

(Ok, First and Foremost, Due to the responses on this thread, I do not condone street racing or stunting a car on public streets... My intent in posting this was to relate a funny story... A side effect is hopefully some of you will learn that this car has way more power than most people can safely handle initially... The skills can be learned... but learn them in a safe area..... Jeeezzzzzzz..... )

Hmmm, I stopped about five minutes later and washed the car... Dried it and headed back towards the house... Turned it off again, yup, same action, same reaction, and same breath holding... WOW.... just...WOW...

Not being an ass here.

OP did it in a parking lot which I have no problem with. A couple of subsequent stories were doing this on the road, around other cars.

If you think it's right to risk others lives when you do this kind of thing, you shouldn't be driving this car.

This is how people wrap their camaros around light poles. And, when that happens I feel sorry for the car, but not the driver.
