Cold Air Intake

Hey guys I have a 2014 1LT Convertible Camaro, and I recently installed a K&N Cold Air Intake into the car. I installed it a few days ago and my mpg dropped from 17 to 11. I was just wondering if anyone knew what is going on with my car because I don't have time to keep going back to the dealer with it since I am in school full time.

Thanks,
Zachy

More air in + more fuel in = decreased gas mileage.

True, but 17->11 is pretty excessive.

Check to make sure your MAF is installed correctly, and all connections are sealed up

I have checked, and rechecked over and over again. I even took the whole thing off, and re installed it. I am at 11 now but if I push on the throttle even a little bit, and it goes past 3,000 rpm the car will go down to lower then 10 mpg. I don't know why it's different from the first time I installed it. Saturday night I went all the way down to 7 mpg, and I only pushed the car a little bit.

My mileage on my 1LT didn't drop any noticeable amount when I installed my CAI.
I DID put my foot down more, however.
I agree, the 17 to 11 drop seems pretty excessive

Should I take it to an auto body shop, and have them check it out just to be on the safe side.

Have you tried switching back to the stock system and see if it fixes the problem?

Wow this is an odd issue. I've had the K&N on mine also a 2014 with no issues whatsoever. I would re set everything. Start from scratch.

I'd reset the mpg on the trip info section, check to make sure you have the air sensor in correctly and seated all the way.
Also make sure there is nothKung blocking the air flow.
How much oil did you put on the filter?
I'm pretty sure its something simple you have overlooked...

Stay off the gas

I have 550hp ls3 and can get more than 28mpg hwy.

Issue has nothing to do with anything other than accelerating out of every light like your speed racer
