Changing the 2ls gear ratio.

Ok so I have the 2ls camaro. I was wondering if I could switch to the regular gear ratio like the 1ls and lt models and keep the warranty. Would I have to get it from gm? And what all do I need?

it is possible to keep warranty if the dealer does the work but i doubt it. i was not aware that the ls has a different ratio, i thought all but the ss m6 was 3.23 ratio

i wasnt aware there was a difference in gear ratios between the three V6 trims. Why do you wanna do that? Not worth it IMHO.

This would make a noticeable differance. IMO the dealer would never know you had a gear in it unless you blew up the rear end. If thats the case you can take it back to whoever installed it and yell at them.

You could likely get a dealer to install the factory 3.27 for a price and I understand they can correct the speedo as well (it would read higher and accumulate mileage faster without computer recalibration) and keep your drivetrain warranty, I'm not sure the resulting performance improvement would justify the cost.

If you're going to spend the money, get the Richmond 3.55 aftermarket gears (they can confirm that its applicable to your trans), have a local reputable shop intall them and get the new Hypertech tuner to correct the speedo (and tune your shift points,etc..) I'm betting the overall cost would be about the same and it will drive like a different car!

I want to do this...I'm thinking of going with an LSD down the road as well, how do the two work together? Are the gears independent of the differential?

I don't want to blow my warranty either...if I go with the 3.55's, I would need a tune and bye bye warranty.

If you have an auto trans, no posi available yet, the differential is a beast all by itself. 195mm ring gear is what I am told. Do the gears and posi ( when available) at the same time and save paying labor and setup twice.
