Upgrading Stock AMP

There was a thread a while ago about upgrading the amp prior to changing all the speakers and I cant seem to find it.... I know about the FARK connection but a few of ya'll sugested an amp by JL Audio. Anybody running the JL and what are your thoughts? What model are you running? Thanks for any assistance.

JL XD700.5. That was my first of many stereo upgrades, and I am here to tell you, that was the best upgrade for the money. It really wakes up your system and fits perfectly in the stock location. Buy the amp mount from ******** also.

+2 on the ******** connectors. I went with Kicker amp and Sub to replace the factory sub. I got all connectors from ******** and literally just plug and play no cutting or splicing with the exception of the power supply for amp.

Oh and another thing. My buddy did same setup except he went JL Audio. He paid twice as much as I did but I'll admit now we both got what we paid for. His sounds much much better than mine. I'll be swapping out mine soon to JL Audio.

I'm not sure what you're asking. The car doesn't have a sub from the factory, so I'm not sure what you mean by "Sub replacement"...

The Verts do come with a 10" Sub behind rear seat.

Yes, I understand. But my car is not a vert...so I'm still not sure what he's asking since my post doesn't even mention a sub.

This is what I did:

Started with:

JL Audio XD700/5
JL Audio HD-RLC Remote Level Control for Amp
******** 5G-FFA Amp Mount
******** 5G-FARK
******** 5G-LDS Drivers Side Stealth Enclosure
Misc. JBL 10" Sub that a friend gave me

This was HUGE for my system. I really was happy...for a while. However, I ended up ultimately not being happy with the mids and highs that the POS factory system puts out, so I added:

JL Audio C2-650 Component System for fronts
JL Audio C2-690TX 6x9's for the rear

The system sounds incredible now, especially considering that I really didn't spend much money on it. The JL tweeters are a little bright for my taste. They can be turned down at the crossover, I just haven't felt like pulling the doors apart to fix it.

I also ended up hard wiring the rear speakers to the amp instead of using the factory wiring with the FARK. It had something to do with the factory speakers being bi-amped and only getting the tweeters to work...or something. I can't really remember at this point.

Replacing the rears deck 6x9's I hear is a real pain.

Will just doing the doors be enough ?

(I already am running the JL amp/FARK/10" sub).
