Just run it to the protected side of the fuse and ground it above the box

Not sure how to run it into the protect side of the fuse. I was going to get a add a circuit and run the wire into there. Do you think that would work?

thats where mine is wired, yet you have to remember to turn off the detector, those fuses are always on, so even when u cut the car off the detector will have power

No. you have the connection to the Pwr Outlet fuse ( 1 is by the shifter, 1 is in the center glove box) both are off when the Ign is off

PS those are the only fuses (Pwr Outlet F18 and F17) that runs off the Ignition.

My detector is plugged into the power port by the shifter and turns off with the ignition, if you find that fuse like above you should be set.

I see people also power off of the rear view mirror, is there some reason why that can't be done? I was going to build my own power wire because screw paying for a RJ11 connector with some cheap wire hanging off of it lol. I have the tools to terminate RJ11 myself.

They make a piggy back clip you can plug on to the side of the fuse I used or just find a piece of metal and cut and Bend a strip accordingly. Or you could say screw it and wrap the wire around the fuse blade.

You can add it if you really want but those two fuses for the interior acc are the only ones in that box that is ignition controlled as previously mentioned.

I ran a wire from the center Power Outlet to a terminal strip (half a dozen connections) now when I need power, I connect a wire to the terminal strip and run it under the side flap. I have it in a plastic box that I can close to protect it from shorting. now when I want to add a new circuit, I have a place to go to. Name: camara 2076.jpg

In the picture that OP has posted, if he wires the direct power to anywhere in that fuse panel the detector will have power when the vehicle is off.

Mine is mounted with blend mount and powered by the direct power cable, to the drivers side fuse panel, and does not cut power with the ignition, there are many threads about this...

If someone has more info on which fuse located in the drivers side fuse panel (best location) cuts power with the ignition please post

BLURAY , both Power Outlets are off when the Ign is off. I took a voltmeter and checked every fuse with the meter, both with Ign on and off, and the Power Outlet circuits were off when the Ign was off. I find it hard to believe that your car wiring is diff. than mine. Try this, plug something into the Pwr Outlet by the shifter and shut your car off, see if you have Power.

Install an add-a-fuse on 17 or 18. They are fed from the RAP relay, retained accessor power. When ignition is turned off, there will be power on 17 & 18 for about 10 min, unless you open your door.
