Should I buy a Camaro?
Dear lovely people,
So I just moved to the states to study my Bachelor degree. I've found a pretty good deal around me here in Chicago. 22000$ for a 13 LS Camaro .. but the problem is my monthly budget is around 2000-2100 $ and I am not sure how much this car will eat up (gas, insurance, maintenance..etc) out of my monthly budget. Is it possible to have this car? or should I wait until I graduate? I cant really tell because I am not really that experienced in the life style here in the US. Thank you very much. Well the only person that really knows your budget is you. How much your other expenses are, but like he said...2 years and the 6th gens will be out. Buy a beater until then

How much of a downpayment do you have? 22k + tax/title/license will run you about $450 a month if you have 0 down and pretty good credit. Add that to insurance and gas, you're probably going to be spending at least $700 a month on your car.
With your budget I would not buy a new car. Wait until you graduate and then get the car you want. You're in college, you'll wish you weren't spending any money on a car and had that $700 for beer and going out. Have fun in college, a new car payment might hold you back...

Muta, pay a lot, and I mean A LOT of attention to registration fees in Chicago. I've owned a car there and the taxes were ridiculous. All I'm saying is to ask questions on the final price after taxes and registration as it may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

sometimes when you're young the risks you take destroy you, especially financial risks. on the other hand, imagine you're 40, driving boring cars with a boring life, and you can look back on a golden age when you were young and drove an american muscle car, and probably, maybe, got some girls because of it!!! you really are at the best age to have fun! maybe you can find a more affordable way to enjoy your time. like spending that monthly car payment on dates with the ladies! haha
