GM hiding the Camaro? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Is it just me, or does it seem like GM is sort of hiding the Camaro ? I mean, I know they have a great site and everything, and it's shown in a few commercials, but I have to say i wouldn't know Chevy was making a new Camaro if I wasn't an enthusiast. I know GM doesn't want to be showing off a big muscle car right now, but it seems like they're scared of people knowing that they are making a performance car. If they want people to buy it, they need to at least mention the name in the commercial. I think a great way to promote support for GM would be to show off the V-6, and the great performance-to-milage ratio. These are just my personal thoughts.

I mean it would be pointless to advertise and advertise the car when there are not any cars out right now for people to buy. Once they get the preorders out and prolly after the unveiling at dealerships in may I am sure you will start seeing more advertising

Also folks.... budgeting.... most PR projects are scrapped as of right now...

Paying the workers comes before pushing the cars...

May 6, people...May 6. Cars should be at dealerships starting this weekend based on when the first units were released to the transports/trains.

There may be some out there but I have yet to see a Mustang, Challenger or Corvette commercial on TV.

And you can buy those cars on the lot right now. But it's true. 95 % of the country haven't even seen this car outside of Transformers. GM is under the biggest microscope ever. We're lucky we're getting this car at all. BTW, though I would agree that it should sell well, the jury hasn't even heard the full case on that.

that car gets 29 miles to the gallon highway. GM would not hide that.

I think they learned from their mistakes with the 4th gen. It still amazes me how many people have asked me over the last 10 years if my 99Camaro was a Transam. Duh, read the C-A-M-A-R-O on the back. Even today I run into people who can't identify it immediately. This time around they'll actually have some on the lots and do some PR when they get there. This one will not be allowed to fail.

They could even recycle the old theme they used on the 4th gens: "The Musclecar Lives" and I bet almost none of the non-enthusiasts would notice.

GM certainly hasn't had the best marketing campains in the past "Who is Lisa Catera anyway?" but this one should be an easy sell if they just get the images in front of people.
