Questions about adding aftermarket features on a 2012 camaro.

I currently have a 2012 1LT but wanted to upgrade to a 2013 2LT mainly due to the heated seats, halo lights and touchscreen radio. I was under the impression you could add a RS package later after purchasing the car but soon found out that was not true. Someone told me I could just pay to have some of the features I wanted instead of upgrading and getting a whole
New car?? I wondered if this was true. Would I save by adding on these features as opposed to trading in buying a new car? And if so can it be done? Main features I wanted was the halo lights and heated seats.
I understand the radio I wouldn't be able to get at the moment because it's only found in the 2013's. How much would halo lights on a 2012 and heated seats on a 2012 be? Just curious.

The 2LT doesn't come with halo headlights on its own. To get everything you want you would have to do the below:

- Upgrade to 2LT ($3000)
- Add the RS package ($2000)
- Take a loss on a trade in (unknown amount)

Upgrading to halo headlights on your 2012 wouldn't be cheap either. Last I looked those headlights were selling for like $800 a piece. Then you have to buy a harness. Installation isn't trivial either. If you can't do it yourself, it will probably $200+ to install.

I recently found a set of headlights that aren't exactly like the stock RS HIDs, but very close. This is a much more reasonable option of $500 for a pair of headlights. Plug and play. It cost $200 to have installed, but i also had fogs installed at the same time, so maybe a tad cheaper for just headlights.

The RS headlights are only that much if you buy them from the dealer.

You can get used RS headlights and the non-RS to RS harness from Gen5DIY for about $850.

Just get it over with and trade for a 2013 2SS/RS. You'll be very glad you did!
