oil from factory
What oil does GM put on the SS from the factory? Synthetic or dino?

The oil filler caps on the 2010 and 2011 say Mobil 1. 2012 the oil filler cap says Dexos, but on the 2012 Vette the oil filler cap still says Mobil 1. Only in the 2010 owners manual are Mobil 1 and synthetic mentioned when it comes to engine oil. Nowhere in the the owners manual for the 2011 or 2012 does it say to use synthetic or Mobil 1, they only mention Dexos. Mobil 1 is a Group III synthetic. Dexos from the dealer is a Semi Synthetic blend. Dexos is nothing more than a re-engineered additive package. The primary purpose of the change is for ash control. A semi-synthetic most commonly only has 15-30% synthetic oil in it and the rest is dino oil.

I believe in its capabilities from personal use with oil analysis reports backing up my OCI's. Besides, I know more than most cut and paste Amsoil dealers which are at least 95% of them.
