I'm also in the middle of making arrangements for some serious pinstriping at the Rat Fink Reunion at the end of May. I guess I'm already down the road to ruin, so to speak.

Question for ya, dcarlo. I'm a salt flats racer and not a drag racer (I'll be running the Camaro in the 130 mph class and my Monte Carlo in the 150 mph class in September.) What do you think is the most effective/worthwhile modification you've made. I guess I otta add that it already had an SLP CAI and Catback and I'm real happy with those and I'm ordering a short throw shifter today.

So if ya got any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it.

The easiest and best mod so far is a cold air intake/scoop combo and headers. Let is breath and it will wake up bigtime. The header install on this car is the easiest I've ever done.

The best mod for me is the one that goes in next week. Putting in a truetrac with the 1LE 3.91 gear. I dropped the gear, the truetrac and a case off last week to get built. I expect to have it in the car Monday.

I changed out the original bushings in my Hurst shifter today for the ones made by NH-SS. The shifter had over an inch of side play in it when in gear. Now it has about 1/8th inch of play.

The shifter feels so much better now. I wish I had done this sooner. Here's a link to the thread where I found them. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226328

I screwed the pooch on the launch but the car pulls good with the new gear.

Still a lot of room for driver improvement.

Paul at VisualFX in Orange Park did the paint. Eddie at Fleming Auto Body does some really good paint work as well.

Jim Hartley of Hartley Automotive (aka Jhart711) installed the cam and all the supporting goodies this week. I cleaned the car up today and got the obligatory exhaust video made. Sounds good too.

Can't wait to get it to the track to see how it runs with the new cam.

Since I've almost finished my overall plans for the Camaro, I decided it was time to get back to the Monte Carlo. Ran across a deal on a 496 big block and a TH400 trans with a 4000 stall converter. I got it sitting between the frame rails yesterday. A little clean up and some fresh paint is the next item on the agenda.

I finally took the stock spoiler off the Camao and put on the GM Dovetail.

Now the car looks like it actually has a spoiler on it.

I got a little carried away on the cleanup for the Monte's big block. I decided to swap the cast iron heads out for these.
