As I mentioned above, there has to be more to this story.
The door lock cylinder on the drivers door is a mechanical lock.

It requires the correct key to operate, but will work without power.

People have unlocked the car with a key, even when they didn't have a battery installed in the car.

I don't mean to sound so pessimistic, but please explain what exact steps you are doing when you say your key won't unlock the door?

Of course the button on the FOB isn't going to work.
But your saying when you insert the key into the lock cylinder on the drivers door, that it does not work either?
What exactly happens? Does it just spin around and do nothing?

So anyone willing to disconnect their battery both the positive and neg to see if the key works or not? Just make sure u don't close the trunk in case it turns out to be true or not which most of us are hopeing the not.

car in storage, battery disconnected.... and key unlocks the door.

If your key will not unlock your door then you may want to take it to the dealer(not the idiots you called about unlocking the door).. If the dealer you called told you cant open the door with a dead battery then you need to find a new dealer.
