The L99 valve lifters will need to be replaced with almost any cam replacement. They are designed for the Active Fuel Management system that shuts down 4 cylinders on light load.

do you have an automatic or manual? You can't put the ls9 cam in the L99 without removing the lifters.

True. I don't know that I'd even consider it on an L99 car personally, but that's just me.

It's an easy and common upgrade worth about 20-25 rwhp in an LS3 however.

No springs or pushrods need to be swapped either which makes it a very economical hp/cost mod.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

Not sure on the LS9 cam, you might need to delete variable valve timing (VVT).

Also, you might need a torque converter for the transmission.

I beg to differ about the wide lobe separation angle being only good for forced induction. Check out the LS3 cam comparo by GM HiTech. The GT-11 Had some of the best all around #'s in the test and was one of the ones with the best street manners.

I am interested in the LS9 swap or some other cam that does not require new spring and lifters. Any links to that GM hi po comparison. What about the GMPP "big cam"? 20-25 hp increase would work for me on my daily driven LS3. Any thoughts?

I think that's the cam that ADM uses for their Stage I kit. If I remember correctly it's about 20 rwhp and you can't hear it. That means they won't know about it for warranty work either.

so, you can't hear the lope of the LS9 camshaft in an LS3? I guess that's what I wanted to know... I want at least a slight lope.

I just liked the idea of not changing the springs/rockers/lifters... and having something that GM designed.

Has anyone tried the GM hotcam? I know Robin L. at GMPP tried it and only got ~9 HP when the rest was kept stock... but I think it has a pretty nice lope... and maybe with headers/CAI/tune... it will get more than 9 HP net gain.
