That was the first time the car had been on the track and they tweaked the tranny tune to resolve it.

The biggest adjustment we need to make was that the moron owner (me) is a noob and didn't insist on a transbrake. That's next. Once we get the launches right and the boost controller hooked up, we should do better.

From where the car was on Wednesday to how you finished the wknd is nothing short of amazing. IPS really went the extra mile for you and it was nice to see the all hands on deck effort all wknd long. You certainly deserve it. You haven't even started to come close to the potential of your car. The question should be how deep into the 9's will it go!!

We were running only on waste gate springs this weekend. Once the boost controller is in we'll turn it up a bit. And, yes. The converter needs to be adjusted too.

I thought the car might have been too quiet and have considered removing the mufflers. But, then the "whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir... pshhhhh!" sounds would be harder to hear.

Congrats on your weekend. Your car looks and runs great. It was really nice to meet you in person.

I was glad to have the chance to have my car out for a good test and tune this weekend. Next time our launches should be better with some of the tweaks the IPS guys will make on it.

That is one of the nicest looking engines I have ever seen in a street car. Kudo's to all involved.

They ended up using ARH shorties.

After having my car out for a bit of test and tune over the last month, we've decided to go with a Turbo 400 transmission. The guys at IPS talked to the folks at RPM Transmissions and they've worked it out so that we can make this happen in a timely manner. Also, we need a new driveshaft to go with the new tranny and Frank at the Driveshaft Shop is getting us a carbon fiber driveshaft. More updates will be coming soon as we get the new parts swapped out.

The guys at IPS have been absolutely terrific about the whole build process and tweaking the car to get the most out of it. I can't say enough good things about them.

I emphasized that to the guys at IPS. They say my fuel economy won't be great, but that it will be fine to drive on the street. I plan to buy a trailer for it for long trips anyway.

Why the th400 what is their reason may I ask? I have a th400 in my car and I don't see why they would want to swap out the 4l80 for it..Only reason I went with It was because it was easier. A fully built th400 is alot different than driving a computer comtrolled 4l80 on the street and track trust me.

The turbo 400 is more appropriate for drag race applications (we won't lose at my hp through it) and it will still work well on the street.

A th400 is pretty much a 4l80 without over drive. You will gain some hp from the swap but it isn't going to be alot the drivability difference though is pretty big. I just can't wrap my head around why they would want to take it out I could see reasons why if you were starting from scratch. There are alot of things you can't do when driving a full manual th400 make sure they go over that with you or you will rebuilding it alot. One example being don't do your burn out in first gear and don't be gearing the car down driving down the road alot.

Thanks for your input. I'll be sure to go over everything with the tech.

One thing I have learned through all of this is that the tech I am using at IPS is incredibly good at what he does and he hasn't steered me wrong yet. He has assured me that I'll have a really good street car as well as an excellent drag race car. I'll keep you posted as things progress.
