How much is header install?

How much have you guys been paying for header installation? I am looking to get the DT shorties, and have seen one post that says it took 5 hours and one that says 8 hours?
Thanks

depending on how content your mechanic is it can take 2-4 hours on average. You can easily do it yourself but if you get DT shorty then you might have to let a mechanic do it since it need to be welded, but is not a hard job at all with the proper tools.

I did it myself on jackstands in 8 hours. But I also replaced the entire exhaust.

I believe that you can do it yourself if you are mechanicly inclined at all but to answer your question on cost to install, that really depends on the shop, some will give you a flat cost and others will bill you by the hour ranging from $20 per hour and up to as high as $60 at a dealer. Call around and get some prices and then go to the shop of where you plan to have it done and see what kind of work they do before you take them your car, some times cheaper is not better!!!!

Please read his post. He's got a v6 and looking at the Doug Thorley shorties which require cutting and welding. If he's got a welder and something to cut the tubing with he may be able to install these himself but he didn't ask that.
I think with the proper tools your shop could get it done to include welding in 4hrs.

I like the choice of wheels.

My dt headers and mrt 1.0 exhaust took 6 hours to install and the total cost was $740 after tax. I had everything welded... no bolt on stuff here.

This sounds correct. This job specs out as a 6 hr job. 5 hrs for the passenger side and 1 hr for the driver side. The passenger side is a pain. My friend and I did it in just under 4 hrs but we weren't welding anything either. I don't know of any shop that charges 20.00 an hr. Where I live, 60.00 is on the low side and 110 is what the dealer charges. Pay twice to get it right or pay once to do it right the 1st time, your choice, OP. Good luck. It should sound nice.
