Will the muffler delete cause issues for those of us who must pass emission testing?

For L99 owners who did the muffler delete, how significant is the drone?

Zero emissions trouble...i have to be emissions friendly. The mufflers are not related to emissions. As long as you keep your resonators in place or go with an resonated x pipe your fully legal. You car needs a muffling device of some kind. Alot of people..me included went with x pipe and no resonators...imo its a little to high pitched so ill get a resonated x pipe in the spring. I found zero drone with muffler delete...zero.

No drone but AFM will drive you crazy. Delete both and be happy!

Is your comment about AFM related to the muffler delete or a separate issue whether the mufflers are there or not?

I don't doubt you, but I gotta ask, why do you think some L99 owners are complaining about drone after deleting the mufflers?

Im not speaking about anybody specific but some of these guys think drone is coming from the afm. And some mistake the sound of a rumbling v8 as drone. Drone effects people different. If you read through this thread there is a few posts that aren't very helpful. Myself I can't stand drone. Muffler delete does not drone imo.

I have the Solo axleback with J-pipe to cancel drone as many others have. All I can say, is that if I had drone, my wife would let me know. There is absolutely zero drone with this j-pipe set-up. I can't speak to just a muff delete with no j-pipe. I had what I would consider a bit of drone BEFORE I did the muff delete. It was at about 110kph while cruising but now it's gone. I would probably cut them off myself if I were you to see if you can handle the drone. If not, then you can add the J-pipe setup from SOLO. It'll cost you about $500.

Hear's my muffler & resonator delete. The car sounds fantastic with VERY LITTLE drone or decel popping!

On a LS3 it is wonderful, on a L99 not so much.
I LOVE my Solo/J-pipe sound and feel. (and they have one for convertibles so clearance is not an issue).

I'm going to ask you knowledgeable folks to enlighten me. If the muffler delete improves the sound, reduces weight, increases exhaust flow & has no effect on emissions, why are they there in the first place?
