its going to be hard to put corvette weight on a car that is between the 45 to 50 range......is that going to hurt acceleration? can suspension be added to improve performance and more stiff bushings but not to stiff cause thats how things break?
do you go away from traditional style to more modern and less displacement? the future is looking grim for car lovers

have any of you read user Doc's build? He has cut out a large amount of weight that GM could use as a template. simple things like changing the battery out and even the lugnuts he uses. could be a good start to get some of the weight out of the car.

EXCELLENT points. That's what GM did on the C5 Z06. Thinner glass, smaller battery, Ti exhaust, fixed magnesum roof, and some other features that I've forgotten. Doc's build is definately one to look at to make the most of what GM has given is

Yes Doc is doing an awesome build. Any of us can follow his design for ourselves, however GM will do what they can. Just a reminder the *oss is somewhat heavier than the GT, yet its performance is much greater. GM can do the same with the Camaro, just look at what Pedders and Pfadt have accomplished.

No apology needed, and welcome to The Z/28 group.

We've been working on this car for a while now with hopes of it materializing.

You can't really compare the ZO6 to the Camaro, as far as it being a track car, with that engine in their due to weight and gearing, it still gets what, like 26 MPG? in the camaro it might get 16-19. It seems to me, most companies are looking more towards fuel effeciency because of CAFE. the ZL1 can get away with it because of the super charger and the same displacement 6.2 as the LS3.

Well ... the Z06 gets 15/24 while the manual LS3 Corvettes get 16/26 vs 16/24 in the Camaro. Based on that, I'd expect an LS7 Camaro to be about 14/22 which isn't too bad and probably better than the ZL1 will get.

Anyway, sales volume is as important to CAFE as fuel economy itself. So even if a performance car doesn't get that great of fuel economy, their total sales are nothing next to the millions of vehicles that GM sells each year.
