Congrats on the C6 purchase. That is a fine car. You will have many, many, trouble free miles. And the paint is very good. Mine is a 2001 with 25,000 miles and the paint is perfect. I too, thought about getting a 2SS, but you see them EVERYWHERE. And a Corvette is a totally different animal. A true sports car.

Their comment, "Because we sell the hell out of the Camaro and the last corvette we got in set here for 6 months before we sent it to another dealer."

Dealers are not going to stock a high dollar inventory item if they do not expect it to move relatively quickly. They will simply take orders for those high dollar, low sales volume items such as vets and keep the Camaros in stock.

Now the reply will be that the ZL1 costs more then the base price vette, that is true but the ZL1s customer base is MUCH larger then the Vettes, someone with a small family can easily get by with the Camaro whereas that's not practical with the vette.

Its simple economics why they keep the Camaros in stock, more people are in that customer base group and they sell faster then Vettes.

Not because the Camaro sales have hit the toilet. They always slow down this time of year historically.
I agree.

Um. He didn't imply that. He just said the corvette is a true sports car.

In the STRICT definition, it is not a sports car, it is a GT car. A sports car is a car with 2 seats. A Camaro is a Grand Touring car because it seats more than 2. Both are fine cars. But the Corvette is much lighter, thus having a superior power to weight ratio. I love the Camaro. I owned 2. 95 Z28 and a 2001 SS.

Anyone who say the Camaro isn't a true sports car is just ignorant.

Call me ignorant because it most certainly isn't a true sports car.

Anyone that owns a true sports car would argue with that statement.

Webster's dictionary defines it as:

Main Entry: sports car
Function: noun
Date: 1928
: a low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving

basically what I put, the sticking point being the ward usually...so that means Camaro is not excluded form the sports car definition....

now if it left the word usually out, then it would.....

The Camaro is not small either...

But that being said the line between sports car and Sporty/GT car has blurred greatly. But us old timers usually consider only 2 seater performance cars as Sports cars.

That ↑↑↑ (and not overburdened with luxury stuff and gadgets not essential for, well, you know, driving the car all by yourself).
