So one of my girlfriends neighbors is selling a 69 camaro! The motor sounds healthy! It just needs to be cosmeticly restored. The inside is real beat up mite need new seats not to mention the bad smell! The outside is also beat up tho not as bad.

Cant go wrong with a 69 for 8 grand! Haha even if it does run. I would say the most i would pay would be 9-11k for a running 69. If the body has a few rust spots, i wouldnt be to worried as long as there not missing the whole quarter panels or anything real major. The just comes along with resto work.

The good news is that the car is HEAVILY SUPPORTED by many manufacturers that will help you melt your credit cards with glee. If it is garden variety sport coupe and it is in decent (read: solid foundation not a lockjaw donor) condition, then $8-10k does not sound bad.

Would love to see pictures of the car to really help you make the call. If you are taking pictures, get a good shot of the trim tag on the cowl to give us the options, build location and colors.

Wink

Is it a Z28 -SS-RS ??? ...
Is it the original Engine & Trans...Is it a "BIG BLOCK" - A 4 speed..... This all adds up to being worth $$$$
Look for RUST in the trunk & floor pans...*
Cost of a good Paint job is $4000 to $6000...
Interior is $1500 to $3500... or more...
Then there's , Chrome- 50 year old wiring - brakes - steering ... etc
~ You have to Look at all this when buying a "Classic Old Car" ~
** Notice I didn't even mention Wheels & Tires yet ** ........
So prepare to add $10,000 to get it right... {or more} ...
You just might wind up with a great car thats worth Double your investment **
If you can talk him down then Grab it ...........

If it needs THAT much work - you are basically getting a motor with a lot of work around it. I would offer him $5K and if he says no, walk away. You will spend a ton of money to fix that up. That's my opinion.

10k is too high if it needs lots of work -inside & out. The '69 is a a desirable vehicle and the owner knows that. I figure you've got wiggle room to get a better price if you really want it.

The one in my signature is all original (except wheels & the paint) down to the AM radio and 3 speed manual transmission. It's a fun ride!
