I love the car and hope the steering wheel makes it onto next years SS model (which I will be buying). The current steering wheel makes me gag.
Great car but then you buy this and what's left to do? I would rather get the SS and tear into it. For 5 or 6 grand over the SS price you can get almost the same performance and have twice the fun getting there. That's just me though...I can't leave my cars along, I have to tear them apart. LOL. Still.....this new ZL1 is bad ass. |

Very nice car, looks to be a very stern answer from GM for the 'what about the GT500" crowd. Not enough to make me want to consider trading in the SS but still a very nice looking package and at least I can say I still have 315's out back to its 305's

I like it, hopefully the black stripe is optional.

Beautiful car. Part of me wishes I waited. But knowing me, I wouldn't have the patience to have spent the last two years without a SS.
Chevy has done it again!

Look for the same steering wheel on all camaros but other models (SS, LT, LS) will not have the suede.

Time to upgrade!
Looks good. Wonder how it sounds? Will it be available as a convertible too? Would have preferred the "Z28" name...

I personally like the ZL1 name. Using Z28 would've been going backwards, as the SS has always been the top of the line. This falls right in line with the tradition of the Camaro.
I was so afraid I was going to take one look at this and want it, but I actually just breathed a sigh of relief. While I can definitely appreciate some of the performance changes, I'm not really blown away by the aesthetics. The front end doesn't do anything for me, and I really don't like the hood insert. The interior is only available in black, and I'm not a big fan of microfiber. I also think they may have shot themselves in the foot with the manual only option, especially considering the ratio of existing Camaros sold. I understand this on a sports car like the ZR1, but this is a muscle car. I'm definitely not bashing it, as I'm sure there are many who love the look. I'm definitely glad they've given Camaro fans a more powerful option to compete with the GT500. I'm going to put my guess in right now on price so I can quote this thread later. - $56,000 sticker (not including the price gouging at the beginning) I'm personally happy sticking with my plain old SS. |
