Welp...another Sunday in the bag, another plastidip adventure...

I ended up trying my hand at the LS7 Blackout. Didn't work out as I didnt load up on the coats around the lines enough and do a quick enough pull. I think I'm going to have another go at it tonight.

The good thing is, I was able to paint my tail bezels and Chevy Logo in the process and even an unexpected tail light blackout that actually shows light...

I ended up deciding to scrap everything and started to remove the plastidip on the far right light, then I thought to check out how it looked blacked out. It ended up working so I tried to fill in the hole I made, but didn't work. No biggie, I'm respraying for the Blackout anyway..but you can see the fill in I tried...

I always lay it on thick and even covering to within an inch of the tape. When I'm ready to do my last coat, just hit the area near the tape and peel it off while it's still wet.

That's the only way doing a big piece will work. I painted my trunk blackout 3 times before trying this method and I finally got it. The edges come out smooth and won't cling to the tape. Good luck.

I'm going to give it another go today.

Question though, when you're on your last coat, are you pretty much loading up on the area near the tape with the equivalent of a couple coats?

Plasti-dip works wonders, I've used it on my tail light bezels, my bowties and on my front bumper to give it that ZL1 look. I personally love it. I actually bought some red Plasti-dip online for the hell of it. It's not half bad

I have an Adam's wheel cleaning brush (pretty soft). Is it safe to use on the dipped rims?

Plastidip makes a glossifier to spray on an already plastidipped part to give it some shine:

I've been researching Plastidip as a last resort coat to paint my diffuser with if I can't get paint to stick. It sticks to anything and unless you deliberately try to remove it, then it is pretty damn durable since rock chips and debris just bounce right off the rubbery texture. I've seen videos of people pressure washing it and it didn't come off.

has anyone done the wheels while they were on the car?

I was just thinking about using some trash bags to cover the inside and some index cards around the wheel and then going at it...
