You sound like a big whiney baby.

1) You know that the 20" tires are very expensive, and should have purchased insurance.

2) Yes, you can get something like that in your tire while driving. In fact it would be impossible to put that knife in there backwards the way it is, even if you wanted to. I would say it can't happen at parking lot speeds, but it can happen. Check out the picture below, I drove over that wrench at about 35 MPH. And it's a double open end wrench. You wouldn't know if you ran over the knife becuase it immediately went flush with the outside of the tire.

3) The tire could probably be patched, but since it's rated at a zillion MPH, it's a liability for the tire place should you kill yourself later when it blows.

4) Blaming the audio company is childish. You ran over a big knife at some point, parked at their place and it went flat.

5) Isn't this the same car that you let have the tires burned off by some yahoos who were supposed to put on an exhaust? That's where I would have directed my anger if I were you.

TAG, sorry to hear about all this, but thanks for the motivation to go get road hazard insurance on the tires...will do that this weekend.

Also, I was thinking about putting a 12W3-V3 in the Camaro, so I'm dying to hear more about your impressions of that!

Wow that's horrible! I have picked up a few things in parking lots too--they should be able to patch it, but I agree you may have to convince them because of future speed.

I've run over someone's keys in a parking lot...same damage as a knife. That was patched successfully.

In a Home depot parking lot I ran over a box cutter...patched fine.

A week after I got a G6 I managed to get a screw in the side wall--no patch for that. Got stuck in Ohio for 3 extra days while we waited for a new tire and it was $300 :(

Tag, was the $534 standard? Are you telling me that it will cost over $2000 to replace a set of tires on this car, when it comes time to do so?!?!

What kind of insurance do you need to cover them, and roughly how much does it cost?

Um, that's not a knife, that's half of a pair of shears (big scissors) and it's the handle part of them sticking into the tire. I don't even know how or where you could pick those up in your tire...

And TAG, why are you taking your car to Custom Sounds to get this stuff done? They are notorious for over-charging customers for EVERYthing.

That whole experience sucks man. You'll have to come out to Biff's tonight and vent

I would have thought to be easily patched, at least where its at. On the edge of the tread, maybe not. I know I have had some repaired like it.

Tag, did they know you were a cop? Sorry to hear that, if thats the actual knife that went into the tire then it was probably the installer or someone.
I feel bad for them now, every time your on duty and you see them rolling by, well i guess they will be paying for the tire, but to the government hahaha
