In New York the mental health laws and the HIPA act makes it too hard to get the psycho's help if they don't want it ... until its too late =(
Crisis Intervention will make 3 attemps to contact ... if person won't open door even with police escort .. they will close the case until they get another complaint ... and the same thing again ... until its too late or the person turns into a useless zombie... |

IBTL...
EDIT: I guess the political-comment guy got his post deleted, so now my IBTL post looks lame. Actually, maybe all IBTL posts are a little lame. Hard to resist sometimes...

sounds like 8 people and one family just won the lottery curtesy of the NYPD....
now we will hear about how they shouldnt of responded to being fired upon, that we should just announce to criminals all you have to do is fire on police at a crowded intersection and they will just let you go rather than risk hitting other people by responding......course if he had hit people while shooting at the cops and they didnt return fire, they would be crucifying the cops for not stopping him by any force neccessary including deadly...... |

Yeah, our mayor even wants to outlaw non-diet drinks bigger then 16oz....so legally carrying a firearm...not so easy in the city that never sleeps.

It's impossible to judge what the cops should have or shouldn't have done unless you were there with them. I can't stand Monday morning quarterbacks.

...like... who's the dumbass that requires them to carry pistols with 8+lb trigger pull... ...Did they empty their mags? Why? ... Did he try to blend in with a large crowd of pedestrians? I have a lot more, but we'll leave it at that now. This shooting should go into the books right up there with the LA bank robbery, PD's all over the country should take lessons learned, and implement them into their training.

Tragic. Go figure in a city where handguns are illegal, a criminal still finds a way to circumvent the law and shoot someone with a handgun.
That's how effective your "gun control" laws are. |

Strange, I would of said NY was one of the more dangerous cities in the US, but appearently you dont want to live in Michigan or California, they have multiple entries in the top 25
So maybe not allowing handguns is actually a benefit after all... http://www.businessinsider.com/most-...es-2011-5?op=1 |
